How To Setup Modules
Collect all the modules and accessories you need
To evaluate the performance of selected modules, you have to assemble them into a servo system. To set up the module, you will nedd:
- Driver module
- Servo motor
- Magnet and its holder
- Suitable Housing to package the Modules
- Connectors, USB cable and Communication Kit
Assemble your servo system.
Assemble the servo motor, the magnet and its holder, the drive module, and its housing as shown in the left image
To run the servo system, you need to select the right magnet and properly mount it.
To select the magnet:
A sintered NdFeB or SmCo magnet with a 6 or 8 mm diameter and 2.5 to 3mm height with a remnant field strength in the range of 1.0 to 1.2 T is recommended. Make sure that the magnetization is diametrically polarized.
To mount the magnet:
The magnet should be attached at the center of the motor’s rear shaft. The center of the magnet should be aligned with the center of the module, or a side-shaft solution is also acceptable.
The air gap between the surface of the magnet and the position sensor is recommended to be set to achieve a field between 30mT min and 80 mT max.
You can select the recommended magnets specifications according to the table below.
Table 4 Recommended Magnets Specifications
OD (mm) | H (mm) | Material | Remanence (Br) (T) | Magnetization | Recommended "air gap z" mm min/max |

6.0 | 2.5 | N35 | 1.2 | Diametrical | 1.5 to 3.5 |
6.0 | 2.5 | Sm26/16 | 1.08 | Diametrical | 1.3 to 3.3 |
6.0 | 3.0 | N35 | 1.2 | Diametrical | 1.8 to 3.8 |
6.0 | 3.0 | Sm26/16 | 1.08 | Diametrical | 1.5 to 3.6 |
8.0 | 2.5 | N35 | 1.2 | Diametrical | 1.8 to 4.5 |
8.0 | 2.5 | Sm26/16 | 1.08 | Diametrical | 1.5 to 4.1 |
8.0 | 3.0 | N35 | 1.2 | Diametrical | 2.1 to 4.8 |
8.0 | 3.0 | Sm26/16 | 1.08 | Diametrical | 1.8 to 4.5 |
